Owner Sophie Bainbridge had the pleasure to sit down and meet with musical virtuoso David Hermlin.
David is an incredibly talented musician Drummer, Arranger, Singer and Dancer (to name a few) of the Swing era.
I've been a huge fan of Dave-The-Wave's music for many years. It was a pleasure to discuss his music loves and his own individual style.

Growing up surrounded by music, his father is an accomplished musician, David has created his own unique sound inspired by some of the greats. Berlin based, David performs all around Germany and Europe with other talented musicians.

Aside from having an authentic sound, David has embraced the style of the era. He lives and breathes the entire scene, believing that it is an integral part of his identity as a Swing Era musician.
David Hermlin: And people nowadays, they don't really understand or it kind of lost this idea that music is not only just listened to but also seen.
And you can see that with musicians coming on stage and you can feel like either they don't have fun or maybe they're having fun but they don't really show it. They are tired. They wear clothes that they could wear just going to the shopping mall and so on. Just like you have to feel there's no effort.
But it isn't about copying the era. From years of dedication, research and honing his skills, he has managed to create something of his own that has own authenticity that feels more like a continuation of the Swing Era rather than repeat of the same thing.
